TSP and federal benefits seminars

Please read first Internal Benefit Advisors is a private firm. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the federal government, the Office of Personnel Management, the Thrift Savings Plan, or any federal agency. These seminars are independent education, not an official agency or OPM programme.

What we cover

Four sessions, run separately or together

We tailor the session to the room. An office of people ten years out needs a different hour from an office where half the room is eligible to retire now.

TSP basics

How the funds actually differ, what the lifecycle funds do, traditional versus Roth, and what the contribution decisions look like at different career stages.

Investment strategy as you approach the date

Why allocation stops being about growth within a few years of retirement, and what sequence-of-returns risk means for someone drawing down soon.

Withdrawal options

Installments, partial withdrawals, annuity purchase and rollovers — the tax treatment of each, and which of them cannot be undone.

Federal benefits overview

FERS and CSRS eligibility, the supplement, FEGLI, FEHB in retirement and the survivor election — the whole map in one sitting.

Booking a session

What we need from you

If you can give us a room and an hour, we can usually do the rest.

Book a No Cost Retirement Review

  • A rough headcount and a sense of where people are — years out, or eligible now
  • A room, or a video link if your office is spread across sites
  • An hour, or a lunchtime if that is all you have
  • A contact who can circulate the details internally

Common questions

Questions organisers ask

What does a seminar cost?

Nothing. We run them for agencies, offices and workplaces. Most people who attend a seminar never become clients, and the seminars run anyway.

How long is a session?

[SEMINAR LENGTH] — we can run a short lunchtime overview or a longer session with time for questions, depending on what your office can give us.

Can you run it at our office?

Yes, and that is how most of them happen. We also run sessions over video where an office is spread across sites.

Do you sell anything at the seminar?

No. The seminar is education. If someone wants to talk about their own numbers afterwards they can book a benefit review, and anyone who wants to know how we are compensated can ask us directly — at the seminar or afterwards.

Who usually organises these?

Typically an HR or employee-relations contact, a union representative, or an agency benefits officer. If you are none of those but think your colleagues would come, get in touch anyway — we can help you make the case internally.

Bring the seminar to your office.

Tell us roughly how many people and where they are in their careers, and we will suggest which session fits.
